Biography

Heidi Libera has lived and painted in lakeside communities most of her life, finding endless creative inspiration in surrounding beaches, lakes, parks and rural landscapes.  Her coastal travels and study of American and European Impressionism and contemporary art, continues to inspire her painterly technique and distinctive interpretation of light and color.  Heidi’s early childhood ambition to draw and paint influenced her study of art history, painting and graphic design at St. Catherine College and Minneapolis College of Art & Design.  For the past 25 years, she has worked as an artist, art director, designer, and marketing director for local and national firms.

Almost exclusively a landscape painter, Heidi thoughtfully embellishes the realities of natural landscapes, intent on a more graphic and expressive interpretation.  Her compositions are alluring and imaginative, as exaggerated and distorted perspectives reduce scenery to simplified shapes and complex layers of color. With deliberate and spontaneous brush strokes, paint is applied in various thickness, washes and textures, sometimes allowing canvas to show through the painterly surface. Heidi’s contemporary paintings and insightful approach creates a compelling and lasting impression.

Heidi's paintings have been showcased at exhibitions and events at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minneapolis College of Art & Design, Grace Hill Design, Artful Living Shop.com, AJ Maison showroom at International Market Square, Martha O'Hara Interior Design and the Cambria showroom in downtown Minneapolis.
